I am in a Love/Hate relationship with my T-shirt project at the moment. I have no clue where my design is going but I am just trying to do a lot of research. I really want to focus on what people want, rather than just doing what I think is cool, of course I will try to do both.
I was looking through Drapers yesterday and found some really interesting T-shirt designs at the Bread&Butter, Berlin autumn 13 trade show.
Seriously, I am in love with these brands, the look, design, logo, name, everything is really good. I need to start thinking about my brand name. I think that is the most difficult thing about this project.
It is clear that black and white are favorite colours, not a surprise there. Favorite type is retro, and people want simplicity. These results really help, now I know where to start, and I can make my muse fit into all this. Here are some inspiration photos I made using BigHugeLabs.
Elena Kalis is a very talented underwater photographer, her pictures are astonishing. It is really interesting to see how she captures the moment underwater. The forms, colours, light and feel of the photos are so different when taken underwater. What I love about her photos is that they are so dream-like, she takes you to another world.
My favorite project of hers is Alice in Waterland, shown above, but here are some more photos that I like.
Svala Kali Bjorgvins. Singer of Steed Lord. My Muse for the T-Shirt Project. So inspiring, my favorite fasionista.
Daniel Palillo – SS13 “Invasion” Lookbook
I came across this designer, Daniel Palillo, while searching for my “muse” for the T-Shirt project in Uni. His designs are very graphic and fun. He really enjoyes designin something monstrous and symbolic, to him it is like writing a diary or a storyboard in a world of his own, he is painting a picture of everyday lived experiences. That is so creepy and inspiring at the same time.
I think he designs in a very interesting way and I really like what he creates. I desperately want one of his garments.
I have this very exciting T-shirt project in Uni this term. Basically we are supposed to design and develop a brand with a logo and strapline and then design few creative prints for T-shirts. I am only on research stage right now and I have found so many amazing print designs that I love.
On this last one I specially like the location of the print. These T-shirts are available at asos.com.
These T-shirts are available at dogma.is. I used to work there for one summer. Most of them are funny pictures or comments. A lot of them also include Iceland somehow.
Nikita. I like these design prints, they are cute, funny and adorable. I also like how they include the brand name in the print.
Mundi Design, one of my favorite Icelandic designers. He uses all kind of amazing prints in his collections.
Last but not least Forynja, also Icelandic design. I absolutely love her prints. Creepy with strong colours. Love love love.
